01Who we are
In short
Monotion is run by the Monotion Team. Write to [email protected] with any question about this policy.
Monotion Studio (monotion.app) is a free editor for animated phone mockups and characters that runs in your web browser. It is run by the Monotion Team. This policy covers the website and the editor.
For anything in this policy, contact [email protected].
02What stays on your device
In short
Your images, settings, and project name are saved in your own browser and are never uploaded to us.
The editor does all of its work inside your browser, including making the export file. To pick up where you left off, it saves the following on your device only:
- The template you chose and its settings: mood, colors, frame ratio, and background.
- Your project name, which becomes the name of your export file.
- The screenshots you add to a mockup, together with their file names.
- Whether you prefer the light or dark editor.
Exported files go straight from your browser to your downloads. We never receive them, and we cannot see, back up, or recover anything listed here. Clearing your browser data removes it, and it does not follow you to another browser or device. Private or incognito windows usually discard it when they close.
03What we don't collect
In short
No accounts, sign-up forms, payments, or marketing emails, and no ads inside Monotion. We never sell your data.
Monotion never asks for your name, email address, or payment details, because there is nothing to sign up for or buy. We do not send newsletters, we do not show ads inside Monotion, and we do not sell your data.
We do advertise Monotion on other sites, and we measure those ads as described under Advertising.
04Usage statistics (Google Analytics)
In short
Google Analytics counts visits and a few editor actions. In Europe, the UK, and Switzerland it uses cookies only after you agree.
To learn which pages and templates are useful, we use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google. For each visit it records the pages you view, the site you came from, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address), and how you move through the site, such as scrolling and clicks on links to other sites. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.
In the editor, we also count these actions:
- Template chosen: which template.
- Export started, finished, or failed: the template, format, resolution, and frame rate. For a failed export, also whether the page had been sent to the background.
These records never include your images, file names, project name, or colors.
We use Google Consent Mode. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google Analytics sets no cookies until you agree in the cookie banner. Until then, Google may receive simple signals without cookies or identifiers (for example, that a page was viewed), which it uses only to estimate totals. Everywhere else, analytics runs by default and you can turn it off in .
Google handles this data under its own terms. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
05Advertising
In short
We run ads for Monotion on Google, and later on Meta. Ad cookies are used only when advertising is allowed.
To see which of our ads bring people to Monotion, we let Google and Meta measure visits that come from those ads. This only happens when advertising is allowed: after you agree in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, and by default elsewhere unless you turn it off or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
- Google: with advertising allowed, Google may set advertising cookies and use the visit and action data listed above to measure and improve our Google Ads campaigns. Without it, ad click identifiers are removed from what is sent.
- Meta Pixel: not active today. If we switch it on for ads on Facebook and Instagram, it will load only for visitors who allow advertising. It would send Meta the pages you view and the editor actions listed above, and set the
_fbpcookie. If you are logged in to a Meta account, Meta may connect this to your account under its own privacy policy. We will update this page when it is switched on.
Neither service receives your images, file names, project name, or colors. You can also manage ads in Google My Ad Center and in your Meta ad preferences.
06Error reports (Sentry)
In short
When something breaks, a technical report goes to Sentry so we can fix it. No screen recordings, no images, no file names.
If the editor runs into an error, it sends a report to Sentry, an error-tracking service. A report contains the error message, the technical trace of where it happened in our code, your browser and operating system, the page address, and a short list of the technical steps just before the error (such as pages loaded and buttons pressed). For a failed export it also includes the template, format, resolution, and frame rate.
Before a report leaves your browser, Monotion removes image data, temporary file addresses, and file names from it. Session replay (screen recording) is switched off, Sentry is set not to store IP addresses, and it sets no cookies.
07Hosting (Cloudflare)
In short
Cloudflare delivers the website and, like any web host, sees technical request logs that include IP addresses.
Monotion is served and protected by Cloudflare. Each time your browser loads a page or file, Cloudflare sees a standard request record: your IP address, browser, the address requested, and the time. Cloudflare uses these records to deliver the site and to block abusive traffic, under its own privacy policy. Your images never pass through Cloudflare, because they are never uploaded.
To decide whether to show the cookie banner, Monotion asks Cloudflare which country your visit comes from. Only the answer (banner needed or not) is kept, in your browser, until you close the tab.
09Who else handles data
In short
Cloudflare, Google, and Sentry, plus Meta only if Meta Pixel is switched on. Each for one purpose.
| Provider | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting and security. Sees request logs, including IP addresses. |
| Usage statistics (Google Analytics) and, when allowed, ad measurement. | |
| Meta | Ad measurement, only if Meta Pixel is switched on and advertising is allowed. Not active today. |
| Sentry | Error reports, with image data and file names removed. |
These providers may process data outside Indonesia. We do not sell data and do not share it with anyone else.
10How long data is kept
In short
Data on your device stays until you delete it. Google Analytics keeps visit data for 14 months.
What is saved on your device stays there until you remove an image, clear the images in the editor, or clear your browser data. Google Analytics keeps visit and action data linked to a cookie for 14 months, then deletes it automatically; totals in reports remain. Error reports are deleted automatically when the retention period of our Sentry plan ends. Cloudflare and Meta keep their records according to their own policies.
11Your choices and rights
In short
Change your cookie choice any time in Cookie settings. For anything else, email us.
You can allow or refuse analytics and advertising at any time in , also linked at the bottom of every page and in the editor. Turning a category off stops it from then on; to remove cookies already set, clear this site's data in your browser.
Other ways to stop tracking:
- A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser switches advertising off.
- The Google Analytics opt-out add-on stops Google Analytics on every site.
- A content blocker stops Google Analytics and Meta Pixel from loading. Monotion keeps working.
Google Analytics does not respond to the Do Not Track setting, so please use one of the options above.
You can remove any image from its slot, use Clear images, or clear this site's data to delete everything Monotion saved on your device. You can ask us what data we hold, or ask us to correct or delete it, at [email protected]. Because statistics and error reports do not identify you by name, we may not be able to find records that belong to you.
12Children
In short
Monotion has no accounts and is not aimed at children.
Monotion is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child's data has reached us, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
13Changes to this policy
In short
If anything changes, we update this page and the date at the top first.
If we change how Monotion handles data, for example if your work ever starts being stored on our servers or we switch on Meta Pixel, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect. See also our Terms of Use.
